The Best Dog-Friendly Spots and Activities in Miami

Back To Stories

Enjoying the fine weather and beach settings in Miami is a lot of fun just for us humans; when we have our dog companions with us, that fun can be next level.

While Miami is right on the coast, it is still a city, and Miami residents living in apartments with dogs may be on the lookout for dog-friendly spots and activities they can take advantage of with their four-footed friends.

These are some of our own favorites when it comes to hanging out with the pooch and all are within easy access of Downtown, Edgewater, and even the suburbs of Miami.

Brickell City Centre

Want to go shopping with your puppy friend? Brickell City Centre allows dogs to walk around this indoor mall. Not every shop lets doggies in, however, so check with employees at the door. Brickell City Centre is within minutes of downtown, just south of the Miami River in Brickell.

Concrete Beach Brewery

Located minutes north of Downtown in Wynwood, the Concrete Beach Brewery lets you enjoy a beer with friends and fido. They are so dog-friendly they will even bring you some water for your dog as soon as you sit down. Enjoy a variety of lagers and pilsners and make sure to enjoy their board games, too, as you socialize with friends and pups.

Hobie Beach

Miami’s only dog-friendly beach, Hobie beach allows fido to run off-leash and swim as much as he likes. The beach is accessible from dawn until dusk and has plenty of shade spots for resting from the midday heat. You can get to the beach from Downtown in half an hour; just take 95 to the Rickenbacker Causeway towards the Virginia and Biscayne Keys.

Performance Pups Freshwater Dog Beach

Not every pup (or every pup owner) likes saltwater. That’s why there’s Performance Pups Freshwater Dog Beach. Reserved just for our four-legged friends, Performance Pups has a freshwater lake for pups to swim in and even a dock for dogs to jump off of. This dog beach is cash only, keep in mind, so make sure to bring enough for admission. As of this writing, the beach charges $5 per pup on the beach and $7 on the dock. No swimming for humans, FYI, but you can wade on the edges of the lake.

SoundScape Park

Have a cultured pup who likes to take in music and the arts? Leashed and well-mannered dogs are welcome at most SoundScape Park events. This cultural hub in Miami features everything from outdoor music to films. Make sure to check in advance to confirm that Fido is invited to your selected event, then enjoy some fresh air and art with your favorite companion.
